Rosh Hashanah, the New Year or head of the year (also called the Day of Trumpets) on the Hebrew calendar, began at 6pm on Sept 9th and ends at 6pm on Sept 11th. This feast also begins the ten days of Awe which culminate in Yom Kippur, the day the High Priest went into the Holy of Holies to pour the blood on the mercy seat. This 10 day season marks the time when the books of our lives are opened and examined and decisions made as to what will unfold for us in the following year.

This year, Rosh Hashanah is accompanied by a sign in the sky, the comet 21P, which will be visible to the naked eye during this time. So what is this sign in the sky speaking of? In Genesis 1, God said that the heavenly bodies were given to indicate signs, seasons, days and years. I believe it speaks of a number of things occurring in the season that it announces. Firstly, this comet is green. Green is traditionally the color of new life; of leaves sprouting on bare trees after a long cold winter. Those green leaves signify the end of a harsh season, when all growth was underground in the root system and nothing else was visible to the natural eye – just bare branches. The sight of those small green leaves indicates that the sap is flowing in the branches again and new life and refreshing has been released.

Secondly, the color green indicates something more ominous. In Revelation 6, a horse described as ‘ashy’ and ‘pale’ begins to run through the earth and its rider is the spirit of Death. The Greek word for ‘ashy’ is ‘chloros’, from which we get the word ‘chlorophyll’, the substance which gives leaves their green color. Chloros also means ‘green’.

Rev 6:8  So I looked, and behold, an ashy pale horse, and its rider's name was Death, and Hades (the realm of the dead) followed him closely. And they were given authority and power over a fourth part of the earth to kill with the sword and with famine and with plague (pestilence, disease) and with wild beasts of the earth.

The sighting of this comet so close to earth on this feast announces also a new season of death sweeping the earth, through war, famine, plagues and ‘wild beasts’. The word for ‘wild beast’ is ‘therion’, which not coincidentally has strong demonic connotations and was used by Aleister Crowley as a name connected to the beast. It also refers to a bestial or savage man. Therefore, this tells us that the riding of the green horse unleashes waves of demonic activity and vile murderous activities by possessed individuals. For those not hidden in the secret place of the Most High, the world is becoming ever more dangerous.

Concerning ‘plagues’ mentioned as a cause of death, drug-resistant bacteria engineered in laboratories will be released in order to kill significant numbers of people. The Illuminati have planned to reduce the earth’s population to a governable level for a one-world-government, using plagues as one of their tools. Just last week, 3 airplanes in America were grounded and quarantined because all the passengers became violently ill during their flights due to some infectious substance in the air of the plane. Beloved, remember what psalm 91 says. If you hide in the secret place of the Most High; if you settle down and dwell there, if you keep your hearts and your hands clean, you will be protected during these dark days unfolding on the earth. The mayhem and death unleashed in the season ahead is intended as a reward for the wicked:

Psa 91:2  I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust! Psa 91:3  For [then] He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence....

Psa 91:5  You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day, Psa 91:6  Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday. Psa 91:7  A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you. Psa 91:8  Only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the wicked. Psa 91:9  Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place, Psa 91:10  There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent. Psa 91:11  For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service].

 Comet 21P will be seen in the constellation Auriga during Rosh Hashanah. Auriga depicts the Great Shepherd, with a mother goat and a pair of kids, just born, in his lap. This speaks to us of a number of things; firstly, of our Great Shepherd protecting His people from the day of wrath. We who are newly brought forth from the womb of preparation will be safe in His lap. We will be kept in the time of Jacob’s trouble. We have been ‘taken near’ to be held in the time when great disaster is unleashed and one quarter of the earth’s population succumbs to the rider on the green horse. In the foot of the Auriga constellation is a star called Elnath, meaning ‘wounded’; He was wounded for our transgressions; wounded in his heel as Genesis 3:15 describes, and soon coming to crush the enemy’s head.

Isa 40:10  Behold, the Lord God will come with might, and His arm will rule for Him. Behold, His reward is with Him, and His recompense before Him. Isa 40:11  He will feed His flock like a shepherd: He will gather the lambs in His arm, He will carry them in His bosom and will gently lead those that have their young.

The kids in Auriga’s lap also speak to me of the story of Tamar’s life in Genesis 38. She was a woman, greatly wronged; first by her husband Onan, who was a bestial man, and then by her father-in-law, Judah, who kept her in widowhood, instead of allowing her to marry another of his sons. Eventually, she took the family seed due to her by subterfuge, sleeping with Judah. He sent her a kid as payment for her ‘services’. When her pregnancy was revealed, Judah acknowledged that his was the greater sin and Tamar subsequently brought forth twins, Zerar (a rising of light) and Perez (break forth or breakthrough). There are many who have been terribly wronged in the Body of Christ by those in authority over them. They have been kept in widowhood and denied the right to fruitfulness, through no fault of their own. But now the season is changing. Just as Auriga, the Shepherd, holds a pair of twin kids, so too there will be a bringing forth of double recompense; a breakthrough and a rising of light. The Sun of Righteousness is rising with healing in His wings. All shame and rejection, false accusation and blame will be lifted and you will be decreed more righteous than your accusers. The Lord hates robbery and double recompense is on the way! And your widow’s veil will be cast off as a new season begins.

Isa 61:7  Instead of your [former] shame you shall have a twofold recompense; instead of dishonor and reproach [your people] shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double [what they had forfeited]; everlasting joy shall be theirs. Isa 61:8  For I the Lord love justice; I hate robbery and wrong with violence or a burnt offering. And I will faithfully give them their recompense in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant or league with them.

There is more we can learn from this comet. The discoverer’s name, Giacobini, is a version of the Hebrew name Jacob, which means ‘supplanter’ or ‘restrainer’, from the root word ‘to take by the heel, restrain’. 2 Thessalonians 2 discusses the rising of the antichrist, which will only occur when that which is restraining is ‘taken out of the way’. So this comet is also announcing the impending arrival on the world stage of the man of lawlessness. Interestingly, the Greek word ‘taken’ also means ‘to arise’, ‘to come onto the stage’, ‘to appear in history’. Recall that when Esau was born, Jacob was holding his heel, restraining him and slowing down his arrival into full view. There have been many theories concerning this phrase about restraining or holding back the man of lawlessness from coming into full view. In essence, the Greek phrase gives the idea of slowing down proceedings until the appointed time of unveiling. Could it be the Jacob company who are in the birthing process, who are holding back and delaying this unveiling? Notice too that once Esau came forth, Jacob came into full view soon after and the double birthing was complete. This tells us that the sons of Abraham (and ultimately Jacob), the corporate manchild company, are due to emerge from their womb of preparation after the man of lawlessness steps onto the stage.

Jacob was Abraham’s grandchild, the one in whom the 3-in-1 God would so work, that his name and character would be changed. Comet 21P speaks of CHANGE coming on many fronts. Firstly, there is a CHANGE of action and orientation. Jacob went from wrestling with God through a long dark night of the soul, to receiving a blessing and walking away from that place with the sun rising upon him. He went from experiencing great resistance and exhaustion in battle to holding out his hands, receiving the blessings due to him and walking into the next chapter. He went from warfare to rest. He went from deep darkness to the morning watch.

Secondly, there is a CHANGE of name and a letting go of all that has gone before. A name always speaks of character. The work done in the hearts during the long night of wrestling is so profound that a name change is necessary. Jacob had to let go of his old name and all that it referred to, before he could receive his new name and all it was connected to. Recently, I had a dream that I had been appointed a name change. I was not too pleased about this in the dream, as I had always liked my name (Christine means ‘dedicated follower of Christ’). However, I had no choice in the matter apparently and my new name was to be Sandra Anne. Sandra means ‘defender of men’ and Anne means ‘grace, favor’. I believe that I represent a company who have been pressing into God through a long dark season. They are dedicated followers of Christ. But that is what we have been – followers. The name change indicates a significant CHANGE of spiritual position and character. Jesus is the Defender of Men and the Bringer of Grace. This name change signifies a move from following after Christ to being positioned IN Christ; where He is now manifested through your earthen vessel as you are seated in heavenly places IN Him. In the dream, I had my old name removed, no matter how it spoke of a good reputation and disposition in church circles, in order to have the new name instituted. Beloved, you cannot carry both your old name and your new name; you cannot move into the new season bearing and representing all that the past season has contained. Let it all go. There is a higher place and position for you in the new season. Jacob was no more as he walked away from Peniel. He had been taken out of the way and replaced by Israel, meaning ‘Prince with God’. No longer would he walk alone or face battles in his own strength; he now had God’s name El encapsulated in his new name. He was elevated to a new position spiritually; a position Carrying greater authority and responsibility.

Do you want to be known as a dedicated follower of Christ or do you want to be hidden in Christ, working the works of God? The spiritual battle you have been involved in during the long dark night has earned for you a position in Christ that carries with it a legal title; a ‘defender of men’ is a lawyer who speaks on behalf of the one accused in a court of law. What is the only thing that speaks and carries any weight in the heavenly courts? The Blood of Jesus speaks for us. We have no righteousness of our own. Therefore this name change signifies the appointment of vessels as bearers of the authority and power of the Blood as it speaks; the Blood carries the power to wash away sin and set the captive free. This name change being bestowed speaks of the release of a company who bear within them the power and grace of Jubilee. Just as Tamar brought forth Zerar and Perez, so too you will bring forth a rising of light and breakthrough in the lives of many as you go about your Father’s business.

Yes, the pale horse will be riding and yes, there will be plagues unleashed and war that takes many lives, and yes, the man of lawlessness is imminently to step onto the stage, but you, Beloved, are coming forth bearing a new name and dispensing liberty and grace as Heaven’s representatives. Dense darkness may be rolling out around the globe, but you will arise and shine with the glory of God as you hold out the Word of Life. His angels will accompany you in all your ways of obedience and service. You will tread upon the lion and the adder, all the while making the Lord your refuge and dwelling place. Christ shall be seen in you as you go forth bearing your new name. This new name is the name of your Bridegroom. At a marriage, the bride lets go of her old surname and takes her husband’s name, which bears His authority. Everything is about to change for you. Your Husband’s name opens doors and releases favor and provision. His Bride will lack no good thing. Because you love Him and know Him intimately, He will rescue you. He will protect you and keep you from the hour of trial that is appointed the whole earth. You are His. You can keep your eye upon all that the Death rider is doing in the earth in the months to come or you can keep your eye on Jesus, the Author and the Finisher of your faith. You can listen to the horrific stories of what the demonic hordes are getting up to, or you can train your ear to pick up the slightest whisper of the Father’s voice, as He gives you step by step instructions for each day. You can come up higher so that He can show you what is to come and what He wants you to do, or rather how He wants you to be, or you can be filled with fear as you contemplate what the enemy is planning during his short time of rampage. It’s all about your position. Will you continue being a dedicated follower of Christ OR will you let go of the past and allow your name to be changed and become hidden safely in Christ, seated at the right hand?
